Imagine you are a judge who had listened to the case of Mary Maloney. Write down the arguments for and against Mary accused of the murder of Patrick.

1.Mary Maloney might be emotionally unstable as she is pregnant, but since she tries to cover up her tracks, it partly shows that she was in the right mind.

2.Is it possible that Mary Maloney was planning for this attempt of murder ever since she heard the news?Or did she do it uncounsiously?

3.Mary Maloney lost her senses due to the shocking piece of news that Patrick was divorcing her, she killed Patrick unconsciously, which meant that she did not kill Patrick Maloney on purpose.

4. Could the piece of bad news be so shocking that it led Mary Maloney to be so mentally unstable such that there was a need to kill Patrick Maloney? Or was it that the fact that Patrick was divorcing her made the hatred in her to well up that she had the desire to kill Patrick? (If it is case number 1, it is manslaughter; case number 2,murder)
